Germain, Thomas
(1673, París, Francia–14 ago. 1748, París).

Orfebre francés. De niño estudió pintura, y en 1691 fue aprendiz de un platero en Roma. De regreso en Francia, entre 1706 y hasta la década de 1720, realizó trabajos por encargo en iglesias, como una custodia plateada para Notre Dame de París (1716). Se convirtió en maestro del gremio en 1720, y en 1723 Luis XV lo nombró orfebre real. Entre sus mecenas se encontraban la reina de España, el rey y la reina de Nápoles y la corte portuguesa. En un período de 40 años su taller fabricó unos 3.000 objetos de plata para el palacio en Lisboa. Es conocido sobre todo por sus elaborados objetos de estilo rococó, aunque algunas de sus piezas revelan una elegancia más sobria.
